FlickTeaser Privacy Policy

The short version

FlickTeaser uses personal information to provide accounts, cloud backup, recommendations, trivia leaderboards, community features, purchases and advertising. Some information remains only on your device; information used for online features is securely transmitted to us or to the service providers described below.

We do not sell your personal information. Free users may receive advertising from Google AdMob, which may use a device identifier for personalised advertising or advertising measurement where you consent.

1. Who we are

FlickTeaser is a movie-discovery and entertainment app operated by Kevin McGuigan trading as AsthamLabs.co.uk (referred to as “FlickTeaser”, “we”, “us” or “our”). It lets people discover films, maintain a film diary and watchlist, watch trailers, play daily trivia, compare movie choices with friends and participate in community features.

2. Information we collect

The information collected depends on the features you use and the choices you make.

Account and contact informationYour email address, authentication provider, account identifier and, where supplied by Apple or Google, your name. Passwordless email verification also processes the email address and temporary verification information needed to complete sign-in.

Profile informationYour username, selected avatar or uploaded profile photo, profile frame, privacy setting and related account preferences.

Movie activity and preferencesFilms passed, saved, seen, loved or hidden; ratings; genre and streaming preferences; recommendation signals; achievements; and “Tonight’s Mission” activity.

Trivia and gameplayTrivia answers, scores, completion times, streaks, chosen leaderboard name, crew membership and achievements. Leaderboard details may be visible to other players.

Community and Movie NightFollows and requests, profile visibility, reactions, reports, public activity such as ratings or watchlist additions, Movie Night session codes and movie choices. Information shared publicly or with accepted followers is visible according to the feature and your profile settings.

Cloud backupIf you sign in and use backup, your diary, watchlist, ratings, preferences, streak, selected settings and related app state are stored against your account so they can be restored.

PurchasesSubscription or lifetime-purchase product, entitlement status, purchase and expiry information, and a pseudonymous RevenueCat customer identifier. We do not receive your payment-card or bank details.

Device and advertising informationAn app-generated device identifier used to connect existing history, and—where available and permitted—advertising identifiers, advertising interactions, product interactions and approximate location inferred from an IP address.

DiagnosticsCrash information, app launch and performance information, and other technical diagnostic data collected by integrated software such as Google Mobile Ads.

Information held only on your device

Some preferences and cached app state are stored locally. If you use FlickTeaser without an account, much of your diary and preference data may remain on that device. However, leaderboard, advertising, purchase, Movie Night and other online requests necessarily transmit relevant information, and signing in or using cloud backup transmits the account and app data described above.

3. How we use information

To create and authenticate accounts and maintain profiles.
To provide cloud backup, restore app data and connect earlier device history to an account.
To personalise movie recommendations and calculate taste-match scores.
To operate trivia, streaks, achievements, leaderboards, crews, Movie Night and community features.
To process, verify and restore Pro purchases.
To show and measure advertising for free users, subject to consent and platform settings.
To prevent abuse, investigate reports, maintain security and diagnose technical problems.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

For users in the UK or European Economic Area, our legal bases include performing our contract with you, your consent (including for certain advertising), our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Service providers and external services

We disclose information only as needed to operate FlickTeaser, comply with law, protect users or complete a transaction. Our principal providers are:

These providers may process information in countries outside the UK or EEA. Where required, transfers are protected using recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions or approved contractual protections.

5. Advertising and tracking

Free users may see banner, interstitial and rewarded advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may process an IP address to estimate coarse location, device identifiers, advertising data, product interactions, crash data, performance data and other diagnostics.

On iOS, FlickTeaser requests permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency system before allowing access to the advertising identifier for tracking. Declining does not prevent you from using the app; ads may instead be limited or non-personalised. Consent choices can also vary by region. Pro users do not receive in-app advertising, although purchase and essential technical processing still occur.

6. Information visible to other users

Your username, avatar, selected frame, leaderboard scores, streak or crew details may be visible where those features are used. Community activity can include films you rate, love, add to a watchlist or mark as seen, plus achievements and reactions. Profile visibility settings and follow relationships control access to some profile statistics, but information deliberately posted to shared areas should not be treated as private.

Do not use a real name as your username or upload a photo you do not want associated with your FlickTeaser activity.

7. Your choices and controls

Accounts: You may use applicable features without signing in, sign out from the profile screen, or permanently delete your account and associated app data using Profile → Delete account and data.
Profile visibility: Choose the available privacy setting from your profile.
Advertising: Use the consent options presented in the app and the tracking controls in iOS or Android settings.
Notifications: Change notification permission in device settings.
Community: Manage follow requests, block users and report profiles or activity.
Purchases: Manage recurring subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.

8. Retention and security

Local information remains until it is removed through the app, cleared from device storage or the app is deleted. Account and cloud data is retained while needed to provide the service, preserve records you have asked us to keep, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and meet legal requirements. Using the in-app deletion control permanently removes your FlickTeaser authentication account, profile, cloud backup, community activity and app-linked leaderboard, crew and Movie Night records from our active systems. App Store or Google Play purchase records, limited security records and records required for legal, fraud-prevention or accounting purposes may be retained by us or the relevant provider for the required period.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted network connections and access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, download, object to or restrict processing of, or request deletion of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent and complain to your local data-protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

The fastest way to delete a FlickTeaser account is the verified in-app control under Profile → Delete account and data. For access requests, help with deletion or other privacy requests, email admin@birbank.co.uk from the email address connected to your account. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

10. Children

FlickTeaser is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for or collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us so that we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when FlickTeaser’s features, providers or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
